Scenery is here. Wish you were beautiful.” - Dr. Seuss

Opinions are like…

If you are offended that I might quote the hoary old “Opinions are like assholes - everybody’s got one”, then go away. If you are still here, this would be my “hello world” for yet another blog. It’s 2008, and there are already millions of these damned things, cluttering up the internet. You can’t browse ten seconds without stepping in at least half a dozen blog links.

So, how can I justify adding my stream-of-unconsciousness blather to the rest?

Doesn’t matter. I don’t have to. I write. You read. Or you don’t.
Why do I do my part of this little transaction?
Not every letter-to-the-editor gets published, and that’s a good thing. But it doesn’t always mean that the submissions are bad - whether bad ideas or badly written. It just means that the poor beleaguered soul in charge of the Letters page of your favorite metropolitan newspaper had to make some choices about what was topical or important that day. And then the next day they got another 3000 letters and the day after that, another couple of thousand, and so on.

I suspect that many blogs are (or began as) letter-to-ed submissions that weren’t picked.

I have a small backlog, which will all appear with recent dates (even though they might be from a year or two ago), then I’ll try to generate some new work a couple of times a week. Occasionally, I’ll write something practical or useful, just for a change of pace. If you think you’ve got varmints (squirrels, raccoons, other) in your attic, then the first HowTo will interest you. Stay tuned.) The rest is going to be opinion and observation. I’ll try to make it entertaining. It will always be well-thought-out. Not necessarily right/correct, but at least I give serious thought to what I write… mostly, kinda. Did I mention that my viewpoint tends to the contrarian?

I don’t expect to change your mind, though it could happen. I do expect to get the occasional “hmm, never thought of it that way”, or the occasional roaring-good argument. A really well-crafted counter argument has actually been known to change my mind… on rare occasion. That’s a little scary, but refreshing when it happens.

Apparently, I have a hard time stopping. Gotta work on that. This is me stopping. !

That’s the way I see it, anyway.
